How To Use This Book
FIRSTLY, THANK YOU for caring about the health & safety of your program. This book is designed to be a 2-hour self-instructional training for you and your staff, allowing you to progress as quickly or as slowly as desired. The chapters have reflection questions at the end, to help synthesize the information & solidify it in your memory. At the end of the book there is a quiz that you need to complete & send to Carrie@TexasDirector.org for a training certificate.
ADMINISTRATION ROUTES AND TECHNIQUES
When administering and medication, always wash your hands before and after giving medications for the safety of the child and yourself.
Wearing gloves is recommended when preparing and giving medications, keeping note of any children with latex or other allergies. If gloves are unavailable, fingernails should be kept short. Acrylic nails and painted nails should not be worn because they may contain toxic materials.
